“You’ll never hear people talk about the Declaration. They always say go to the Constitution.” — Scott Kesterson

---

WHAT THIS EPISODE IS ABOUT

Scott Kesterson argues that the blame game after the midterms, on both sides, comes from separating the Declaration of Independence from the Constitution. He reads the opening of the Declaration and passages from George Washington’s 1796 Farewell Address on the spirit of party. He then tests both against abortion, the Second Amendment and the new Texas governor’s platform. He closes with a call to rebuild through local, face-to-face community, and ends in prayer.

---

KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED

• Why is the Declaration of Independence the founding document of the United States?
• What did George Washington’s Farewell Address warn about political parties?
• Where do our rights come from according to the Declaration of Independence?
