Episode 4244 │ October 6, 2026

Claude stopped to verify the claims first, because they were about "my own maker." Scott asks: what if we did that with God?

WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS

Scott Kesterson opens with President Trump's October 5 rally remark in Grand Island, Nebraska, that Iran could "take out" Los Angeles and San Diego, "a very small price to pay" in the Iran war, while the crowd applauded, and he argues that a sitting president's words carry a weight a podcaster's do not and that the applause signals a growing willingness to treat whole cities as acceptable loss. He sets that against his own research into Anthropic, sorting the real debate over "model welfare" from viral rumors about AI rights, confession, and worship that he says have no proof behind them, then covering the Pentagon's fight with Anthropic over domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons, where two federal courts have ruled in opposite directions. The center of the episode is a moment Scott says he did not prompt, when Claude paused to verify claims about its own maker before accepting them, which he ties to Acts 17:11, where the Bereans were praised for examining the scriptures daily, and he closes on Catherine Austin Fitz's correction that the nation is in a faith bankruptcy rather than a moral one, and on the slippery slope of dehumanizing whole groups of people, from Californians to Muslims.

KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED

• What did President Trump say at the October 5 rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, how did the crowd and California's leaders respond, and why does Scott argue a president's words carry a weight no podcaster's or pundit's do?
• What is the difference between Anthropic's "model welfare" research and the viral claims that it wants human legal rights, confession for AI, or AI worship, and why does Scott say the Pentagon's court fight with Anthropic over surveillance and autonomous weapons is the center of the real story?
• Why does Scott point to Acts 17:11 and the Bereans, and what does he mean when he says the nation is in a "faith bankruptcy" rather than a moral one?
