Episode 4148 │ June 2026
Gen Z doesn't have a work ethic problem. The institutions do. Gen Z won't follow systems that offer pointless work. FMX proves it.
WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS
Scott Kesterson builds the case through the lens of Freestyle Motocross — where physics don't negotiate, the bike doesn't care about your feelings, and the consequence of insufficient preparation is a collarbone — that Gen Z's refusal to perform enthusiasm for meaningless institutional work is not laziness but clarity. The generations loudly condemning Gen Z built the gig economy, automated away the jobs they're telling Gen Z to aspire to, and created the algorithmic platforms Gen Z then turned into legitimate careers — and then called them lazy for doing it. When work earns their commitment, they are extraordinary; the indictment of Gen Z is really an indictment of what is being offered.
KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED
- What does a real work ethic actually look like — and why does FMX prove Gen Z has one that most of their critics have never matched?
- What is the institutions' legitimacy problem — and why do Gen Z workers refuse to grant commitment to systems that cannot justify themselves beyond tradition and compliance?
- Who actually broke the box first — and what do the generations condemning Gen Z's work habits have to answer for before the indictment sticks?

Wonderfully inspired Spirit led podcast Scott, loved the insight you were given. Jesus told Nicodemus ‘ the wind blows where it wants to and you hear it’s sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So too it is with all who are born of the Spirit. These young ones are refusing to live within the Matrix. Refusing to worship the system. That’s freedom! That’s the gift God gave us but which most of us forgot as we got older. The wonderful way God works 💖🙏✝️🕊⚔️

We grew up with one phone on the wall; they grew up with the world in their hand. Understanding beats comparison every time.

We were taught to find information. Gen Z was born drowning in it. Maybe they need guidance more than criticism.
