Brad Cummings on the Ten Words: “God is not imposing Himself upon people; He’s inviting them into a relationship.”

WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS

Brad Cummings and Scott Kesterson continue the Ten Words series, reading Exodus 20 as a covenant offer and not a list of rules. Brad ties Sinai to the burning bush, to Abram’s covenant in Genesis 15, and to a marriage vow. Scott adds how group pressure and the cost of giving up a belief can explain why Israel backed away from God’s voice.

KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED

1. Why does Brad say the Ten Commandments are ten words of covenant and not rules to keep on our own?
2. What does Genesis 15 show about who carries the promise when God makes a covenant?
3. Why did Israel pull back from God’s voice at Sinai, and what does that teach us today?
