Correction Sarah Jay died at age 46. Married at 18 to John Jay, She had long suffered from attacks of rheumatism, intermittent fevers, and influenza. Only months after moving to Bedford, she became ill again. On May 28, 1802, Sarah Livingston Jay died suddenly.

John Jay amazes me though, because he was born December 12, 1745, & died May 17, 1829 which made him 83 when he passed away, which back in that time was rare. In fact his wife died in 1802, at the age of 45 which was more common. People died much younger then. I love history & appreciate you going through the Federalist Papers immensely. John Jay had so many great accomplishments in his time. He had 6 children. He left such a great legacy. Thank you for encouraging us to dig into our history.
