I was always taught that being an American meant that you were God-fearing, lived by the golden rule, were involved in your community, celebrated our independence from the constraints of government, and lived a life of altruistic pursuit to do good.

They tried to look at all of the good aspects of the ancient governing bodies and wanted to improve on them with the emphasis that the difference in our USA’s Republic versus the Greek would be based on our God-Given rights to freedom and pursuing happiness (Making a living off of our godgiven gifts and talents) and having a neutral response to other nations, to not engage in war, but instead peacefully set an example of goodness prevailing and neighborly existence between all.

We should always pray for our government to lead us in a Godly manner, but only through Jesus do we go through the narrow gate: never through government.
