Scott if you have a bank account that has interest paid for your money you have lent your money to the bank. So if the bank fails FDIC doesn’t have enough to cover a large bank like Bank of America. The bank also treats your money as a loan to them and you are not first in line to demand your money back. You are a loaner on the second tier. There are others who in a court case is the first to get paid by any assets left in the bank. So your checking and savings accounts are wiped out.
