Older parents (like mine) see institution care as their main option thinking it selfish to hope to live with their kids. It's so wrong. Maybe they're afraid to even ask or plan for it. I live with the guilt of my Dad insisting on neck surgery which ended him. I could have stopped it but he was insistent and my brother and I thot he could make it. Don't let institutions decide for them even if they want it! I was giving him the choice but wish I had not. Realized after the fact when too late.
