4. Impact with bridge. I was navy nuke mechanic for 6 years on a carrier, 106k tons. It took 4 nautical miles to stop it at 20knots with all 4 engines in back full emergency mode. If power systems died we had multiple backups for rudder control and we could use 4 engines to steer if needed. Modern ships use electric motors for engines and usually only 2. Ruders are controlled by remote servo systems.

After watching several videos of the ship and its tracking I believe that it was hacked to hit the bridge. 1. Was on straight course until just before first power loss. 2. When power was restored there’s tons of smoke coming from the stack as the engines were kicked into reverse and the bow started to swing away from the bridge. Then second power outage happened. 3. Power restored a second time as ship was still drifting towards the pylon. Anchors were dropped but will NOT stop a 100k ton ship.
